Less is more this season!

In the wise words of Coco Chanel - "Simplicity is the keynote of true elegance".

So this season, take on classic cut and tailored clothing. Alexa Chung (above) on the red carpet at the Cannes Film festival exhibits the minimalistic trend. Her classic cut 1960s Balenciaga dress gives her a feminine figure and  a classic elegant look. Alexa has complimented her dress with a gorgeous topaz necklace which adds a whole new dimension to her outfit. What we can take from Alexa's style is that we can find simple and classic outfits which we can add accessories to. However, the accessories must be statement pieces, which are understated yet elegant. 

Some celebrities have taken the notion of accessorising to a whole new level. As we can see below with Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively, over accessorising negates a classic and elegant look. Over accessorizing has a tendency to make an outfit appear tacky and cheap. So, the notion of minimalism is a key trend for this season, remember - Simplicity is the keynote of true elegance.
