Colour Blocking

Olivia Wilde, Leona Lewis, Camilla Belle and Rihanna trying out the trend
Spring is finally here. This only means one thing- time to put away your black clothes and bring out the colour! The great thing about Spring is that it gives you an excuse to wear some fun, flirty, bright and crazy colour combinations. A huge trend that emerged throughout the 2011 Spring and Summer season in Hollywood was colour blocking. Colour blocking involves wearing bold colours, separated by a neutral tone. It enables us girls to pair pieces together that we usually wouldn't dream of.
Colour blocking is totally on trend, however it can either work wonders or be an absolute disaster. All body types can try this trend, but curvier girls should stay away from patterns and let the colours speak for themselves. Whilst petite girls can experiment with baggier pieces, curvy girls should always opt for a well-fitted, body-hugging outfit. It will inevitably be more flattering.
The fabulous thing about colour blocking is that you can literally pair any two colours together. Use your imagination and have fun with it! A favourite of ours is pink. Pair it with oranges, yellows, blues and greens. So chic! However, never pair pink with red. Unless you want to look like a giant strawberry...not so cute.
So, what's the verdict? Is colour blocking silly or stylish? Colour blocking is absolutely stylish! Worn the right way, it's a fabulous trend coming into Spring and Summer. Wearing colour will brighten your face and complexion and leave you feeling wonderful. Give it a go! Just make sure to separate your crazy colour choices with a neutral piece such as a belt or bag.
